Today we will be dealing with 20 bible verses about being a good father. Raising a child is not an easy task. Both the father and the mother must be up and doing to ensure that they raise Godly children. There is a clear difference between being a good man, a good husband, and a good father. A man becomes a good husband by effectively performing his duties to his wife. But that doesn’t make him a good father yet. Until he start having children and he equally discharge his duties as expected from him to the children.

 

While the duty of the mother is to make the home and ensure things are in order, a good father is an enforcer of the things that are right in his home. He ensures that the children are properly brought up through discipline and teachings. It is hard for a woman to play the role of a good father. The scripture said train up a child in the way that he should go so that when he grows he wouldn’t depart from it. A good father ensures that the children follow the right path to life.

 

There are so many examples of good and bad fathers in the scripture. A good father must not be too busy to take care of his home and his children. He must not be too occupied not to notice any abnormalities in the children. Eli was a great priest of God, but he failed as a father. He failed in his duties as a father and the nemesis cost him his life and that of his children. All through the scripture, the role of the father can not be overemphasized. We have compiled a list of 20 bible verses about being a good father to help us understand the importance of being a good father and how to become one.

 

1. Proverbs 20:7

The lovers of God will walk in integrity, and their children are fortunate to have godly parents as their examples.

 

2. Proverbs 4:1-2

Listen to my correction, my sons, for I speak to you as your father. Let discernment enter your heart and you will grow wise with the understanding I impart. My revelation-truth is a gift to you, so remain faithful to my instruction.

 

3. Proverbs 22:6

Dedicate your children to God and point them in the way that they should go, and the values they’ve learned from you will be with them for life.

 

4. Matthew 7:9-11

“Do you know of any parent who would give his hungry child, who asked for food, a plate of rocks instead? Or when asked for a piece of fish, what parent would offer his child a snake instead? If you, imperfect as you are, know how to lovingly take care of your children and give them what’s best, how much more ready is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask him?”

 

5. Proverbs 3:11-12

My child, when the Lord God speaks to you, never take his words lightly, and never be upset when he corrects you. For the Father’s discipline comes only from his passionate love and pleasure for you. Even when it seems like his correction is harsh, it’s still better than any father on earth gives to his child.

Remember what you were taught from your childhood from the Holy Scrolls which can impart to you wisdom to experience everlasting life through the faith of Jesus, the Anointed One! Every Scripture has been written by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness. Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.

Confidence and strength flood the hearts of the lovers of God who live in awe of him, and their devotion provides their children with a place of shelter and security.

The same way a loving father feels toward his children—that’s but a sample of your tender feelings toward us, your beloved children, who live in awe of you.
