Today we will be dealing with 20 bible verses about Generosity.

One of the special quality a Christian should have is to know how to give. Jesus was particular about giving. He even said He will bless a cheerful giver. Have you ever been curious about what the bible says about giving with a generous heart?. As Christians the bible clearly stated that we are called to give generously.

God set a great example for us by giving us His only begotten son to die for us. He made His own sacrifice as an act of love towards us His children. He gave us a good example of an importance of giving and looking out for our neighbors no wonder He said we should love our neighbors as ourselves. God encourages giving. There are many bible verses that talked about being kind and caring.

God loves those who give and has promised that they shall continually see the face of the Lord in all their endeavors and will be blessed always and forever. Our act of love and kindness towards others will be returned to us by God. By being generous towards everyone around us not only are we being favoured by God we also set good examples to humans around us and also help to build a society that is filled with benevolence and good will.

Let’s read some of the bible verses that encourages giving with a generous heart below.

 

1. Acts 20:35

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.

 

2. 1 Timothy 6:17-19

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

 

3. Luke 21:1-4

Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.

 

4. Matthew 6:1-4

Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

 

5. Deuteronomy 15:7-8

If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, but you shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be.

 

6. 2 Corinthians 9:5-7

So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised, so that it may be ready as a willing gift, not as an exaction. The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
