Today we will be dealing with 20 bible verses about light and darkness. Light and darkness are two opposite things. Darkness represents emptiness, formless and complete uselessness. The book of Genesis 1 stated that In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. This is the story of the creation of heaven and earth. The earth was filled with darkness and where there is darkness the spirit of God can’t operate. That’s why the first thing God created was light.
Genesis 1:3-4 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day and the darkness he called “night. The light represents the spirit of God and darkness represents the devil. As believers, we are children of the light. Wherever we get to, people must see the light in us. Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
The scripture also made us understand that we are the light of the world. Matthew 5:14“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Darkness will always try to hide the light. Everything about light represents God. We have highlighted 20 bible verses about light and darkness.
1. John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
2. John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
