So our body has become a living place for God as stated in the book of 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? Humans naturally feel entitled to their bodies. We believe the body is ours so we can do what we choose to do with it without fear. However, the scripture said our body is the temple of the Lord. This means our house is a place of abode for God. If God dwells in us, is it right to still pierce our bodies or draw tattoos? According to the scripture, piercing the body is wrong and tattooing the body is not good. God doesn’t make mistakes with our creation. We are wonderfully and fearfully made. If there was any need for a mark on our body, God would have put it there while creating us. So why are we hell-bent on putting a mark that God has not put on our bodies?

 

We see so many people today with diverse tattoos. Besides the Biblical implications of having a tattoo, health-wise it is not nice. Many people have contracted different diseases through tattoos and piercings. Whatever God admonishes us not to do is for our good. Unsterilized piercing or tattoo equipment can transmit diseases that could be detrimental to our health. Little wonder, God frowned against the act of tattoos and piercings. 1. Leviticus 19:28 

You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.

 

2. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
