Today we will be dealing with 20 Bible Verse For Self Control. Believers must have self-control, or else the enemy will toss them around. Temptations will always come. If you are a man you will always be tempted to fornicate or commit adultery. As a woman, at some point in your life, you will be tempted by money and other flashy things of life. If you have self-control you will have an edge over the antics the enemy might throw at you.

Many believers have fallen today because they lack self-control. They lack the ability to stay in charge when the enemy decides to play a fast one on them. Judas Iscariot didn’t have self-control, that’s why he was swayed at the sight of money. And at the end, he did the abominable by betraying Jesus Christ.

One of our attributes as believers should be self-control. We must seek the ability to control ourselves. Self-control will teach us endurance. It will teach us how to tolerate other people. Self-control will teach us patience especially when someone is getting on our nerves.

If as a believer you wish to learn the habit of self-control, the scripture has so many verses that will help you. We have curated a list of 20 bible verses about self-control for you. Ensure you study these scriptural verses and apply the principles to your personal life.

But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

6. James 3:1-18

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!

Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.

Now Joseph had been brought down to Egypt, and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, had bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, and he was in the house of his Egyptian master. His master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to succeed in his hands. So Joseph found favor in his sight and attended him, and he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had. From the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; the blessing of the Lord was on all that he had, in house and field.

But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
